Past Value Life Events

Value life is specifically aiming on reducing the amount of gun and knife crime all over London and we hope to promote it worldwide. We have had peace rallies from our school Gladesmore Community School all the way to Wood Green, Tottenham’s busiest shopping area which we have successfully made an impact on gun and knife crime. Value Life VI (2009)

July 2009 was a peace festival in Markfield Park, Tottenham Haringey to recognise and celebrate the achievements of London students.  Over 800 students from eight schools across the capital attended the festival. Students were keen to participate in the many inter-school competitions and enjoyed a variety of fun filled games and activities from rock climbing to five-a-side human table football. Value Life V (2008)

Our 2008 event also included open top buses.  8 open top buses full of students from various Haringey secondary schools and other selected London schools were in attendance.  Buses took numerous routes throughout Haringey converging at Ducketts Common where students then marched up Wood Green High Road to The Decorium Hall where a peace concert was held with special guest ‘ChipMunk’.  Over 1000 students were in attendance.  

Value Life IV (2007)

The Event Value Life IV still placed an emphasis on gun and knife crime however other aspects of valuing life were incorporated into the campaign such as, valuing education, family, community, and most importantly, young people valuing their potential future. There were student representatives from over half the schools within the borough. Peace Festival The event started with a Peace Festival in Gladesmore’s playground. Value Life III (2006)

Peace Walk and Rally: Value Life III Campaign “Hands off Haringey” occurred on Wednesday 19 th July 2006 . The Peace walk attempted to target all the hot spots within the borough. The walk started from the Gladesmore Community School all the way down to The Dominion Centre on Wood Green High Road. Over half of the student body attended the walk and rally (600 students), which was headed up again by Lucy Cope. Value Life II (2005)

The Value Life II Campaign “We are the future” occurred on Friday 24 th June 2005 . By this time knife crime was added to the campaign as students felt that the escalation of knife crime incidents within their area was a real worry. Lessons about the impact of gun and knife crime were also developed and added to the Citizenship Studies curriculum. The peace walk and rally was headed by David Lammy MP, Lucy Cope Mothers Against Guns UK (MAG) and Reverend Nims Obunge of the Peace Alliance. Value Life (2004)

The first Peace Walk and Rally occurred on Sunday 11 th July 2004 . The Peace Walk started from Gladesmore Community School and finished at the Freedom Arc in Bruce Grove. Over 120 students attended the first march and rally of their own free will. They felt that it was important to send a strong message to the community that young people were totally against gun crime. The walk was headed by Reverend Nims Obunge of the Peace Alliance.
